Home Health Care is an Amazing Resource
If we are lucky, we are going to grow older. We are going to watch that image in the mirror change as wrinkles appear, our hair thins and greys and our energy decreases. If we are lucky, we will find ourselves caring more for those close to us, and caring less for the loud, crazy things that happen in the rest of the world. Growing older can be a lonely journey, but it is a journey that doesn’t have to be difficult. For people aging alone, the need for care can come at any time, day or night, and it is possible that a person will need more care than their neighbor needs, or more care than a family is able to provide to a loved one. If that is the case, as it can be for many people, it is possible to get around-the-clock care. Some many wonder what life will be like with someone whose job is to provide around the clock care, but here is a look at one positive scenario.
Morning
Upon waking, a home health caregiver would assist with a bathroom trip. After finishing, a warm bath would be drawn, after which, the caregiver and the loved one being cared for would pick something comfortable to wear for the day. If the loved one has medication, then the medication would be given with the appropriate meals. Caregivers have the ability to assist or to lead in meal preparation, and will assure that your loved one is fed and hydrated. After breakfast, maybe your loved one has a crossword puzzle that they work on for a little while as the caregiver cleans up, and prepares food for the rest of the day. The caregiver may stretch with your loved one, and go for a nice, long walk with them.
Afternoon
Exercise, however light, can help us work up and appetite, and your loved one and the caregiver will cook some lunch. After lunch, and after cleaning up, the caregiver can clean and run errands while your loved one has an afternoon nap. When the caregiver returns, your loved one may want to knit and watch game shows until time to adjourn to the home of friends for a fun evening of cards, cocktails, and appetizers.
Evening
While your loved one is enjoying themselves with friends, the caregiver can walk the dog, and clean up after it. Grocery shopping may need to be done, a new prescription may need to be picked up, and the other dog may be picked up from the vet. The caregiver can be home in time for the laundry delivery and the mail delivery, and take books back to the library. When your loved one is ready to come home from spending time with friends, the caregiver can go and pick them up, and bring them home to relax. Maybe your loved one likes to wind down for the evening by playing a few songs on the piano that they’ve had for years, but needs a little help getting on and off of the bench. Our experienced caregiver will gladly assist, and dress them for bed.
Late Evening
Even with the best of care, misfortunes can happen, and they can happen in the middle of the night. With around the clock home health caregiving, if your loved one has a heart attack or low blood sugar at night, someone will be available, and able to call emergency medical services. You and your loved one can rest assured with home health care through Agility Health.
